===== RPG table-top ===== I needed to expand my table area to play RPGs, so decided to make a separate table-top. It goes on top of my coffee table and two stools, which conveniently are about the same height. The production steps were are follows (thanks to Otto for help and instruction): * starting point: 120x240cm havuvaneri (thanks to Arno for helping with the transport) * Cutting off excess length (from 240 down to 180cm) * Using the CNC machine to make an indentation in the board, matching the coffee table, to make the board more secure * Rounding the corners * Adding a frame to make the vaneri stiffer (thanks to Teemu for advice on that) * Polishing and filling the holes in the surface * Removing excess filler and polishing once more * Covering with varnish What I've learnt: * It's better to buy a qood quality vaneri if you want to have a nice surface. Fixing defects takes a lot of time and extra money (I def. didn't fix every defect in mine) * When Filling in holes and indentations add excess material, and remove it once it dries * The wood dust - glue mix has weird yellow-green color after drying. It looks a bit better in thicker layers. But it's free! * Setting and removing such a big table top w/o scratching the furniture underneath is difficult for one person. Maybe adding some handles would be good enough. * Overall I got a functional table-top and haven't lost any fingers, which is a lot the first woodworking project ==== Some pictures: ==== {{:projekteja:rpgtabletop:table_1.jpg?250}} {{:projekteja:rpgtabletop:fillers_1.jpg?250}} {{:projekteja:rpgtabletop:fillers_2.jpg?250}} {{:projekteja:rpgtabletop:fillers_3.jpg?250}} {{:projekteja:rpgtabletop:frame_1.jpg?250}} {{:projekteja:rpgtabletop:frame_2.jpg?250}} {{:projekteja:rpgtabletop:frame_3.jpg?250}} {{:projekteja:rpgtabletop:ready.jpg?250}}
